The Keys to Your Product's Success in '09

January 2009

ThermoFab expects a Fantastic 2009! With a new year comes renewed hopes, and 2009 is no different. At ThermoFab, we're committed to helping you make this year a prosperous one for your business (despite all the gloom-and-doom talk surrounding the economy).

How can we sound so confident? Well, it has to do with the processes we've developed and invested in over the three-plus decades we've been in business. See, we understand that bringing a product to market can be as daunting as it is exciting. But when you work with ThermoFab to manufacture your plastic enclosures, you--and your product--immediately benefit from our expertise in design, details, and speed.

The Keys to Your Product's Success in '09:

ThermoFab's tooling process for thermoforming plastic enclosures 1. Design
We've talked a lot recently about our investment in design. The reason why we're putting so much emphasis on this capability is because a product's design can truly make or break it in the marketplace. Giving your product every chance at success is, no doubt, your top priority.

At ThermoFab, we feel the same way, which is why we're not only equipped to work with designers you bring to the table, but we're also equipped with design experts and engineers in-house who can turn your product dreams into reality. Our capabilities ensure that your product's plastic enclosure has just the right look so it can effectively compete in the marketplace. We also have additional services that complement our in-house design capabilities, including EMI shielding, painting, and other custom processes. When you choose us as your thermoforming partner, you will truly experience one-stop shopping, where we design, manage, and manufacture your product.

2. Details
As the old saying goes, the devil is in the details, and the same holds true for plastic enclosures that house sensitive medical, computer, electrical, and other industrial products. We've developed a proprietary process that offers close tolerances, tight specifications, and sharp detail.

In fact, our flexibility in tooling allows us to get so much detail in the tool that we're convinced you'll be hard-pressed to find a thermoforming company that can "do the details" any better. Read more about our tooling process here.

3. Speed
As you know, the time-to-market (TTM) interval (the time needed to develop a new product) is critical to success. But reducing TTM won't be enough, if it means the product's integrity is affected due to shortcuts or untested processes.

At ThermoFab, we've devoted much time to creating a thermoforming process that reduces TTM while still producing the highest quality part. When you work with us, you can go from files to finished product in 4 to 6 weeks. We'll get your product to market faster and with higher quality (because of the design and details) than other manufacturers. And we don't have to tell you what that means: the sooner your product is on the market, the more units you can sell. A CAD file review starts the whole process rolling.

At ThermoFab, we're committed to your success. If you have any ideas or thoughts on how we can help you be even more successful in 2009, email them to us. Some of our best ideas have been sparked from discussions with people like you.

Thermoforming Process Meets Time Constraints
For 454 Life Sciences, Cost and Color are Key Factors

Thermformed enclosure for 454 Life Sciences

Challenge: Timing & Tooling
When people from 454 Life Sciences approached ThermoFab, they had a complete design in place for their Genome Sequencer System but needed to have it manufactured. Due to the start up nature of the project, they were looking for cost-effective tooling that would off-set initial production costs. In addition, 454 Life Sciences selected a difficult paint to work with, in a color that is rarely used in the industry.

The System would live in sensitive environments, such as hospitals, corporate settings, or university research laboratories, and would house a technology for labs to use in sequencing entire runs of human genomes for use in genetic studies and ongoing research.

The timeframe for production was a sensitive issue, as 454 Life Sciences had already taken orders for its new system. The company wanted to get it into the hands of scientists as quickly as possible since it was committed to helping aid the advancement of genetic research.

Solution: ThermoFab's In-House Expertise
ThermoFab was happy to present its innovative thermoforming process to 454 Life Sciences to meet the demands of the Genome Sequencer System design. Thermoforming was the ideal approach, and ThermoFab was able to produce the detailed tooling on-site. Read more about how ThermoFab's expertise in design, details, and speed solved the challenges facing 454 Life Sciences.
